Biographical Background for Ms. Carole Rosen, MA, MSW, LCSW
EDUCATION, LICENSES AND CURRENT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Carole Rosen, MA,MSW,LCSW has a Masters of Social Work from New York University and a Masters in Political Science from Columbia University as well as a Certificate in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs. She completed her psychoanalytic training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis. Ms. Rosen is the recipient of the University Alumni Award for Academic Excellence from New York University, the first time this was ever awarded to a student from the School of Social Work.
Ms. Rosen is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a New York State Licensed School Social Worker. She is also a Certified Psychoanalyst and Supervising and Training Analyst at NPAP. Additionally, she is certified in Critical Incidence Stress Management.
Ms. Rosen currently has a full time multi-cultural private practice in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in New York City where she sees both individuals and couples. She works with both the American and international community within the business, student and professional sectors and sees many patients from Eastern cultures including China, India, Japan and Korea.
She is currently conducting analysis with Chinese patients in China in Mandarin Chinese via the internet (Skype and web-cam) and is available to accept long-distance Chinese patients into her practice. She is an experienced supervisor and consultant on Asian culture, China and psychoanalysis and advises on cross-cultural issues.
PAST EXPERIENCE, PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS AND PUBLICATIONS:
Ms. Rosen has served as a consultant to the United Nations, UNOPS. She also was the Coordinator and Founder of Psychological, Academic and Volunteer Services for Hunter College’s International English Language Institute in New York City where she served for over 15 years helping international university students. In addition she was a counselor of students at John Jay College of Criminal Justice also in New York City. She has worked as a consultant for the NYC Board of Education conducting psychosocial evaluations of children, including children from China and was a translator at the China Institute. She chaired and organized the cultural difference workshop at the Winter 2007 meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association for CAPA –China American Psychoanalytic Alliance.
Ms. Rosen is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW); the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work (AAPCSW); the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP)and the Chinese American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA). In addition she serves on both the Ethics and Enrollment Committees of NPAP. She is the organizer of and a participant in the Salman Akhtar Upper West Side Study Group.
Her presentations and publications have included “Chinese and American Cultural Difference and Treatment Implications” Winter 2007 Meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association (CAPA); “Special Issues in Working with the Bilingual Patient,” Psychoanalytic Social Work, Volume 8(1) 2001 and “Understanding the Experience of Being an International Student in the US” Hunter College ESL Conference, New York City, NY 1999.
